Annika at 14 months

Here's my beautiful girl. She was cutting a tooth today, and her smile shows it. Despite that she was in a good mood. But that's Annika.

Havoc in her Wake

The kid can trash a living room. Quickly, I might add.

Bones Jammies

These pajamas glow in the dark. They are hilarious. It's what you do, I guess, as a parent. Amusing pajamas.

Why, yes. I am a Photographer too.

I got Annika a little Chicco toy camera that has a flashing red light and makes various electronic shutter noises when you push the button. Strangely, the shutter sounds alternate with American jingly folk tunes like "She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain" and "Oh, Susanna." Strange, because Chicco is an Italian company. Where did they find those songs?

Anyway, I'm prepping the girl for the actual toddler digital camera. How young is too young for that one?

Kennebec Door

I shot the disused front door at my old house on Little Kennebec Bay in Machias, Maine, in 2000. The original image is a 4x5 inch black and white negative. I hauled that large format camera from Iowa to Maine on a flight. I didn't use it nearly enough to have made the effort worth it. At least it hasn't been worth it yet.

Anyway, I cropped the original and post it here tonight in honor of having reserved a cabin for 1 week in August on the coast of Maine for the Archers' summer getaway. I am already so looking forward to it.

Fair Food

I shot this photo in 2004 at the Indiana State Fair. I always liked it, but it was shot in 35 mm, so it was rectangular. But the action of the picture really was in this square area.

I haven't shot medium format in years. Perhaps the new darkroom and the inclination to move back to black and white film will lead to more squares.

3 Babies in 1 Day!

Welcome to the World, Jude Christensen! He was born the day his Mama said he would be. Which just so happened to be 2 days before the due date her doctors gave her. That's what you call the Italian intuition. Congrats Meli & Pete!

And today we heard of the arrival of TWINS (I need to find out when exactly), Caterina and Theo, to our friends in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

It's also the anniversary of Elvis' birthday, for what it's worth. And I think that's the same as our dear departed Beagan family dog, Logan.

I'll stop now. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New day, new year, new decade. It's been 5 years since I opened this blog, and this makes post #961. I'm aiming to hit 1,000 posts in this anniversary month. And start going back to yoga on Fridays. And start shooting and printing black & white film again.

Got any New Year's Resolutions?
